When Annette King decided to get her wildlife rehabilitator license after being gifted orphaned baby raccoons by a friend, she had no idea that it would lead to a lifetime of rescuing and rehabilitating animals. Initially unsure of what Pat was, staff members have since determined that she is likely a Cornish hen. Despite her rough appearance, Pat is curious and docile, making her a beloved fixture among visitors to the ranch.

Located outside Claremore, Wild Heart Ranch is a wildlife rehabilitation facility dedicated to taking in animals that others may have deemed unsuitable for rescue or adoption. As Annette King says, 'We take the odd kids, the hopeless.' The ranch's motto, 'We fall in love with all the broken ones,' reflects its commitment to providing a safe haven for creatures that need special care and attention.
